Viewers should know that discussion in the seminar has not been replaced yet to reflect that the contract specifications for VIX futures contracts has changed as a result of CFE rescaling the VIX and the VXD futures contracts on March 26, 2007. CFE rescaled these futures contracts to bring the traded futures contract prices in line with the underlying index values published by Chicago Board Options Exchange. The rescaling did not change the dollar value of the VIX and VXD futures contracts, and it did not change the dollar value of each tick. Specifically, the contract size for both VIX and VXD futures is now valued at the underlying index level multiplied by $1,000. This is a change from the prior practice of multiplying the underlying index level by 10 to arrive at the Increased Value VIX (VBI) and multiplying the VBI by $100. Also, the minimum increment for VIX and VXD futures is now 0.01 index point, which is a change from the prior increment of $0.10. For more information, please refer to CFE Information Circular IC07-003, dated March 7, 2007.
